nonwoven materials.
wet-laid & engineered to perform.

We use wet-laid technology and high-performance fibers to create outstanding solutions for energy, industry, aerospace, defence and mobility.

Solutions Across Sectors

Battery Safety

Modern battery technologies use our specialised carbon-based papers as electrodes. Our paper-thin nonwovens insulate and manage heat in battery casings, helping prevent thermal runaways. We provide customized solutions that utilize fully scalable paper technology.

Electronics & 5G

PCB, circuit board, 5G, and high-frequency tech need materials with low dielectric constants. By selecting the right fibers, we tailor solutions to fit specific requirements.

Aerospace & Defence

Our specialised nonwoven papers are used in sophisticated high-temperature composite materials, as well as electromagnetic-transparent parts intended for radomes, antenna systems, and defence-related uses. Our conductive fiber solutions deliver advanced materials for effective EMI shielding.

Mobility & Automotive

We provide solutions for lightweight conductive structures and high-temperature sealing applications in vehicles and composite systems, including battery safety for BEVs.

Hydrogen Technology

In fuel cells and electrolyzers, Gas Diffusion Layers essentially act as an electrode that facilitates the diffusion of reactants across the catalyst-layered membrane. Our specialized papers form the foundation of the GDL, providing optimum surface area and porosity. Our manufacturing process is efficient and cost-effective.

Surface Heating

We offer conductive materials with adjustable electrical resistance for heating systems, suitable for floors, walls, ceilings, caravans, and lightweight structures. These are space-saving, cost-efficient, and allow adjustable power output.

Let's Build Something New

In addition to our existing range of products, we work closely with clients to create tailor-made nonwoven materials. By bringing together diverse technologies and expertise through an interdisciplinary and open innovation approach, we are able to develop innovative material solutions from the ground up.

We collaborate with global tech firms and partners from various industries to pursue advancements in new technological areas, including specialized coating methods like PVD, CVD, and PECVD, as well as innovations using recycled fibers.

We invite innovative product solutions, such as custom fiber blends, PVD/CVD coatings, and recycled materials, and are prepared to collaborate on joint research and development initiatives from prototype through full-scale production.

Frequently Asked Questions

About NonWoven365 products and wet-laid nonwoven technology

NonWoven365 produces four product lines using wet-laid nonwoven technology: carbon365 (conductive carbon fiber papers, 2-10 Ohm/sq), aero365 (aerogel thermal insulation, below 25 mW/mK), thermo365 (carbon fiber surface heating, 12-220 V), and silica365 (silica nonwoven stable to 1150 °C). All are manufactured by Phoenix Non Woven GmbH & Co. KG in Lenningen, Germany.

NonWoven365 materials serve six core industries: hydrogen technology (fuel cells, electrolysis GDL), energy storage (battery spacers, thermal management), aerospace and defence (composites, EMI shielding, radomes), electronics and 5G (PCB substrates, antenna systems), mobility and automotive (lightweight structures, high-temperature sealing), and surface heating (floor, wall, ceiling, mobile applications).

Wet-laid nonwovens achieve significantly more homogeneous fiber distribution than dry-laid or air-laid alternatives. Fibers are suspended in water and deposited onto forming wires — a process related to papermaking. This produces isotropic sheets with consistent electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties. The process handles carbon, silica, ceramic, metal, and recycled fibers at areal weights starting from 10 gsm.

Yes. Phoenix Non Woven develops custom materials from initial specification through scalable production. Capabilities include custom fiber blends (carbon, silica, ceramic, aramid, metal), PVD/CVD/PECVD surface coatings, recycled fiber integration, and application-specific property optimization. The company collaborates on joint R&D projects with OEMs, startups, and research institutions.

Phoenix Non Woven GmbH & Co. KG is based in Lenningen, Germany (near Stuttgart). The company is ISO 9001 certified by TUV SUD and a member of AFBW. Founded in 2020 as a spin-off of the Scheufelen paper mill (150+ years heritage). Strategic partner Sandler AG (24.9% stake) provides international sales network and USA market access.
