KG was founded in 2020 in Lenningen, Germany, as a spin-off of the traditional Scheufelen paper mill, which has over 150 years of experience in specialty paper manufacturing. The team combines researchers from DITF Denkendorf with former Scheufelen manufacturing specialists. The company is ISO 9001 certified by TUV SUD and registered at Stuttgart (HRA 737967).

In July 2025, Sandler AG acquired a 24.9% stake in Phoenix Non Woven. Sandler brings a supplementary product portfolio, extensive sales expertise, and a well-developed international network — particularly in the USA. Phoenix retains full independence over research, development, and innovation. The partnership combines Sandler's global nonwoven market leadership with Phoenix's wet-laid specialty technology.
